Alora is a decorative brand, so most buyers arrive here choosing by look. The problem is that the most expensive mistake on this range has nothing to do with looks. Roughly 44 percent of Alora fixtures ship without a light source, and you cannot tell which ones from the category, the price, or the photograph. A 6-light chandelier that needs six E12 candelabra lamps is a different order from an integrated LED chandelier that arrives ready to energize.

Telling an integrated fixture from a lamped one

Of the 586 fixtures here, 327 carry an integrated LED module and 259 use a replaceable lamp that is not included. The split does not track the product type. Vanity lights run 102 integrated against 95 lamped. Chandeliers run 47 integrated against 66 lamped, so the odds actually flip depending on which category you are in. Only multi-pendants, ceiling fans and floor lamps are entirely integrated. When a fixture is lamped, the base is almost always E12 candelabra or E26 medium, and Lumera stocks both across the LED bulbs and lamps range.

There is a fast tell on the listing. Integrated fixtures state a wattage and a color temperature for the fixture itself and are marked dimmable. Lamped fixtures state a maximum wattage per socket and a socket count instead, phrased as something like four sockets at up to 40W each. If you see a per-socket maximum, you are ordering a housing.

Why this matters beyond the lamp cost

Compliance follows the light source. The Title 24 JA8 flag, California's certification requirement for high-efficacy light sources in regulated rooms, appears on 247 fixtures here, and every one of them is an integrated LED model. Not a single lamped fixture carries it, because the compliance depends on a lamp Alora does not supply. On a California job in a regulated space, the lamped half of this catalog is off the table unless you separately specify a JA8-certified lamp and document it.

What the first two letters of an Alora part number mean

Alora's numbering is unusually disciplined and it is worth learning, because it turns a 586-item grid into something you can read at a glance. The first two letters are the fixture type, and the mapping is exact on 585 of the 586 parts here.

WV is wall vanity, the bath bar mounted above or beside a mirror, and it is the largest group at 197 parts. PD is a pendant, a single fixture hung from one canopy, at 145. CH is a chandelier, meaning a multi-arm or multi-tier ceiling fixture, at 113.

LP is a linear pendant, the long bar hung over an island or table, at 40 parts, and MP is a multi-pendant, several heads fed from one shared canopy, at 28. FM is a flush mount sitting tight to the ceiling at 27, and SF is its semi-flush cousin on a short stem at seven.

The tail is small. PL covers wall and picture lights at 13 parts, TL is a portable table lamp at 11, HF is a ceiling fan with an integrated light at two, and FL is a floor lamp at two.

After the prefix comes a model number, then a finish code, then in many cases a glass or shade code such as CR for clear ribbed or CC for clear crystal. The eight codes below are the common ones and do not cover every finish in the range.

VB is vintage brass on 133 products and UB is urban bronze on 123, so those two alone cover almost half the range. PN is polished nickel on 80, MB matte black on 40 and NB natural brass on 33. Below those, CH is chrome on 12, BG brushed gold on seven and CB black on six.

Do not read the digits as a size. On many parts the two digits before the finish do match the inch dimension in the title, but on plenty of others they do not, and on multi-head fixtures the same position sometimes carries a head count instead. Take the size from the title.

Two suffixes worth knowing

A part ending in -UNV is universal voltage. All 62 of them are rated 120V to 277V, which is what you need on 277V commercial gear. The relationship runs one way. There are 173 fixtures rated 120V to 277V here and only 62 carry the suffix, so the absence of -UNV does not mean the fixture is 120V only. A part ending in -RT has a remote driver. All 16 of them mount the driver away from the fixture, which means you have to plan an accessible location for it before the ceiling closes up.

Alora, Alora Mood and Kuzco are three different catalogs

Alora, Alora Mood and Kuzco are three brands from one manufacturer group, and Lumera stocks all three as separate collections. Buyers mix them up constantly. Part numbers do not cross between them, so a Kuzco number will never resolve to an Alora fixture or the reverse, and a design in one line often has no equivalent in the others. Alora itself holds 586 fixtures at Lumera, all interior decorative and weighted toward vanity, pendant and chandelier work. Nothing in it is wet rated, so no part of this line belongs on an exposed exterior wall.

On the 259 lamped fixtures the fixture does not dim at all. The lamp does. Whether that circuit dims smoothly, and how far down it goes, is decided by the lamp you put in it and the dimmer you pair with that lamp, not by anything Alora ships. That is worth saying out loud on a job where the designer has promised a dimmed dining room, because a non-dimmable lamp in a beautiful chandelier produces a very short conversation.
