Battery Backup and Emergency Operation

The battery-backup configuration provides a minimum of 90 minutes of emergency illumination. It uses a rechargeable, maintenance-free Ni-Cad battery and an automatic transfer switch.

A push-to-test switch and power-on indicator are specified. Self-diagnostics are an optional configuration, not a feature to assume is included with every CWEX.

Wet-Location Rating and Housing

The CWEX is UL Listed for wet locations and rated for temperatures from -4°F (-20°C) to 122°F (50°C). Its fully gasketed enclosure is made of flame-retardant, UV-stabilized polycarbonate and has a high-impact-resistant clear polycarbonate lens.

Housing choices include gray, white and black. Available face and housing combinations depend on the selected configuration.

Mounting and Electrical Options

The CWEX supports wall, ceiling or pendant mounting. Back-plate knockouts allow wall mounting directly to a standard J-box; a canopy and mounting hardware are provided.

Dual-voltage 120V/277V operation is standard. The product family lists single- or double-face and red- or green-letter options; confirm the required configuration when ordering.

• The dual-circuit option is available only on AC-only units. A dual-circuit unit must not be connected to two live supplies at the same time; the secondary supply should come on only when the primary supply is out.
