Corona Sells the Housing: the Socket Decides the Light and the Finish Decides the Lifespan
Almost every Corona fixture ships without a lamp, and many listings say so in as many words. It is not an oversight. Corona builds the housing, the lens and the mount, then leaves the light source to you, which is why two fixtures that look identical on the grid can behave completely differently once installed. That splits the buying decision cleanly in two. The socket in the fixture sets the beam and the output. The housing material and finish set how many seasons it survives.
Six fixture types and what each one does outdoors
The catalog is organized by mounting position rather than by style, which is the useful way round for a landscape plan. All 244 products sit inside landscape lighting, so you can compare Corona against every other landscape brand in the catalog on one filtered grid.
Path and area lights are the largest group at 63 products, throwing a downward pool along walkways and beds. Directional and spot lights at 46 give an aimed beam for uplighting trees, walls and features. Well and in-grade lights at 41 are buried uplights that sit flush with the finished grade.
Step lights account for 36 products recessed into risers, walls and masonry for footing safety, and 27 more are general landscape fixtures in mixed forms including hanging and flexible mounts. Eight underwater lights are built for submerged use in ponds and water features, and two down lights take a bullet form aimed downward from a wall or tree.
Two groups are not fixtures at all. Nine listings are LED replacement lamps and 12 are accessories covering stems, sleeves, lenses and mounting parts.
The socket is fixed, and it is the specification
Because the fixture arrives empty, the socket built into it is the one decision you cannot change later. A housing designed around an MR-16 will not take a PAR36, so the beam angle, the wattage and the color temperature available to you are all decided the moment you pick the fixture. Corona names the sockets by lamp format. SCB is a small bi-pin lamp used mostly in step lights and T3 is another compact bi-pin type. The MR numbers are reflector lamps sized by eighths of an inch across the face. MR-16 is by far the most common socket here, and Lumera stocks 49 MR16 lamps in the general LED bulbs and lamps range.
MR-16 is the default across path, spot and well fixtures, appearing on 115 single-socket fixtures and 12 twin-socket ones. SCB, a small bi-pin lamp used mainly in step lights, covers 28 single and four twin. T3, another compact bi-pin type common in step and brick lights, covers 24.
Thirteen fixtures are integrated LED, which means no lamp to order and no lamp to change later. PAR36, a sealed beam format for longer throw, covers eight. The smaller reflector formats are MR-11 on six single and two twin fixtures, and MR-8, the smallest here, on six single and two twin. Two fixtures use T5, which is rare enough that it is worth confirming on the listing.
The twin-socket variants matter on a quote. Twelve fixtures take two MR-16 lamps rather than one, and there are twin versions of the SCB, MR-11 and MR-8 fixtures as well. If you total the lamp order by counting fixtures, those parts will come up short.
Reading a Corona part number
The numbering is short and consistent. CL is the brand prefix, three digits are the model, an optional letter marks a variant of that model, and the final two letters are the finish. CL-350-BK is model 350 in black. The nine codes below cover 193 of the 244 products, and the rest use a longer suffix or a different prefix.
AB is antique bronze and leads at 72 products, then GM gun metal at 39 and BK black at 34. BZ is bronze at 12, SS stainless steel at 11 and SI silver at ten. RC is raw copper at eight, BR natural brass at five and WH white at two.
A small number of parts break the pattern with a longer suffix or a different prefix entirely, mostly accessories and lamps. Where a part number does not resolve, read the product title, which names the type and the finish in plain words.
Material is the durability decision, not a style decision
On a landscape job the fixture lives in irrigation spray, fertilizer, mulch and sometimes salt, and the housing material decides how that ends. Brass covers 116 products here and is the material to reach for on coastal sites and anywhere the system has to last decades, because it corrodes to a patina rather than failing. Copper behaves similarly and appears on 10 products, mostly in a raw finish that is meant to weather.
Stainless steel on 12 products and aluminum on 11 are the other metallic options, with a couple of composite housings. Aluminum is the value choice and holds up inland, but the finish is what breaks down first in harsh conditions. Note also that a finish name and a base material are different things: a gun metal or antique bronze fixture can be brass underneath, so read both fields rather than reading the finish alone. What Corona does not supply
Two things are missing from this range and both are needed to finish a job. The first is a lamp, on 222 of the 244 products. The second is a power source. Corona fixtures run at 12 volts and require a remote landscape transformer, and there are none in this brand collection, so that part of the system comes from another manufacturer in transformers.
Twelve accessories are stocked, covering stems, sleeves, lenses and mounting parts, and at least three of them are marked for use with specific series only. On a path light the stem length changes the mounting height and therefore the spacing on the plan, so treat it as a spec rather than a spare part. Dusk to dawn switching for the circuit, where the transformer does not include it, comes from devices in photocells.
Where Corona sits in Lumera's catalog

What to confirm before ordering
These fields change from fixture to fixture and none of them can be assumed from the brand. Burial depth, cable routing and grounding on a low-voltage run are judged against the code and by the inspector. Lumera's installation and code disclaimer covers that boundary.
- Socket type. MR-16, SCB, T3, PAR36, MR-11, MR-8 or T5, and whether the fixture is single or twin socket.
- Lamp supplied. Assume not. Only 13 fixtures here are integrated LED with no lamp to order.
- Housing material. Brass, copper, stainless steel, aluminum or composite. Read this separately from the finish name.
- Finish. Nine codes across the range, and availability varies sharply by fixture type.
- Sleeve requirement. Some in-grade fixtures need a PVC sleeve for burial and some do not. Check before the concrete goes down.
- Stem length. On path and area lights this sets mounting height and changes fixture spacing on the plan.
- Lead length. Fixtures are prewired with a direct burial lead of a stated length, which affects where the splice lands.
- Transformer capacity. Total the lamp wattage across the run and size the supply separately, since none is included here.
Lamp, finish and material questions on Corona fixtures
Do Corona fixtures come with a bulb?
Almost never. Once you set aside the 13 integrated LED units and the nine replacement lamps, 222 of the 244 products are fixtures that need a lamp added. Only 13 are integrated LED units with the source built in, and nine of the remaining listings are replacement lamps rather than fixtures. Budget the lamp as a separate line, and remember that a dozen fixtures take two lamps rather than one.
Which socket should I choose?
You do not choose it independently, because it is built into the fixture. What you choose is the fixture, and the socket comes with it. MR-16 is the most flexible position to be in, since it is the most widely stocked format and gives you the widest choice of beam angle, wattage and color temperature later. If long-term relamping flexibility matters on the project, favor the MR-16 housings over the smaller MR-8 and MR-11 formats.
Is brass worth paying for over aluminum?
On a coastal site, near a pool, or anywhere irrigation hits the fixture daily, yes. Brass and copper corrode to a stable patina instead of pitting and failing, which is why 116 of the fixtures here are brass. Inland, sheltered and on a shorter expected life, aluminum performs perfectly well and costs less. The failure you are buying against is not the housing cracking, it is the finish breaking down and the fixture looking wrong after three seasons.
What is the difference between the finish and the material?
The finish is the surface treatment and the material is what the fixture is made of, and this range mixes them freely. A gun metal or antique bronze fixture is frequently cast brass underneath, so the finish name tells you the color and not the corrosion behavior. Read both fields on the listing, because a bronze-looking aluminum fixture and a bronze-looking brass fixture are different purchases.
Do I need a transformer, and is one included?
You need one and none is included. Every fixture here runs at 12 volts and needs a remote low-voltage transformer sized to the total connected load of the run. There are no Corona transformers in this collection, so the supply side comes from another brand. Add up the wattage of every lamp on the run, leave headroom for future additions, and size from that figure.
Which in-grade fixtures need a PVC sleeve?
It varies by model and the listing states it, so this is one to read rather than assume. Some cast brass in-ground fixtures are built for direct burial or concrete encasement without a sleeve, and others expect a sleeve to protect the housing and allow later removal. Getting this wrong is only recoverable before the hardscape goes in, so confirm it at quote stage rather than on site.
