Four Part Numbers Make One Run, and Two of Them Look Almost Identical
A finished tape light run is never one purchase. It is tape, a driver sized to that tape, a channel to mount and diffuse it, and connectors to join and feed it. Diode LED sells all four, which is convenient until you are looking at a grid of 1,833 items and two listings differ by three characters at the end of the part number. That particular pair is where orders go wrong, so it gets its own section below.
The four things a run needs
Order these together rather than sequentially, because a spool with no driver is a spool. The tape itself is the largest group at 872 listings, and all of it sits in tape light where you can filter it against the other linear brands in the catalog.

Channel Bundle and Accessory Pack are not the same product
This is the single most expensive mistake available on this brand, and it is easy to make because the titles read almost identically on a grid. Compare these two real listings. DI-CHB-S1CO-96AL is a Channel Bundle: a 96 inch aluminum extrusion with a frosted cover, two open end caps, two closed end caps and four rotating mounting clips. DI-CHB-S1CO-ACC is an Accessory Pack: the same two open end caps, two closed end caps and four rotating mounting clips, and no channel at all.
The base part number is the same. Only the final segment differs, and it is the difference between a box of extrusion and a bag of end caps. There are 163 bundle listings and 30 accessory pack listings here, so the pairs sit next to each other throughout the collection. Read the last segment before you add to cart, and read the word after the comma in the title: Channel Bundle includes the profile, Accessory Pack does not.
Reading a Diode LED part number
Diode LED's own spec sheets give the pattern. Their published example reads DI-24V-BLBSC3-27-016 as Diode LED, 24 volt, BLAZE, Type 3, 2700K, 16.4 foot spool. Once you know that, the voltage and the color temperature are readable from the grid without opening anything.
DI opens every part in the range. The voltage segment follows as 24V, 12V or 120V, and it is present on 728 tape and module listings. Next comes the family and type code, such as BLBSC3, which names the tape family and the output type within it.
Color temperature is written short, so 27, 30 and 40 mean 2700K, 3000K and 4000K. The length segment closes a tape number, where 016 is the 16.4 foot spool. On channels the final segment is different again, and 96AL means a 96 inch aluminum channel while ACC means accessories only.
Connector part numbers carry the tape width instead. DI-TB8 and DI-TB12 are 8mm and 12mm tape-to-board connectors, and a 10mm group sits alongside them. A connector cut for one tape width does not grip another, so match the width before you order a bag of them. Drivers, controllers and power supplies across the catalog are collected in LED drivers and power supplies.
12V or 24V changes how far you can run
Voltage is the first tape decision and it is not a preference. At 24V a run carries further before voltage drop dims the far end, which is why 24V dominates here at 568 tape and module listings against 160 at 12V. Twelve volt tape still has a place on short runs and in cabinetry where the driver sits close.
Diode LED's spec sheets are explicit that each maximum run needs a dedicated feed from the driver and that you should not extend past the published maximum run length. That figure is per tape product rather than per brand, so read it on the listing and plan the feed points before the millwork is built. Most of this range is filed under under-cabinet and under-counter lighting, which is where the shortest runs and the tightest driver locations usually are.
The tape families and what separates them
Named families are how Diode LED segments output and color quality, and the name is in the product title on every spool. The counts below are what Lumera stocks rather than what the manufacturer publishes.
BLAZE is the volume family at 321 listings with the widest choice of output and color. VALENT at 213 is the higher performance architectural tape, and BLAZE X at 146 is the higher color rendering version of BLAZE. STREAMLITE at 79 is the slim format and is frequently sold as a kit with a driver.
The specialist families are smaller. DAZZLE at 24 listings covers decorative and effect applications, BLAZE COLORS at 12 is solid color rather than white, and SQUIGGLY at five is the flexible format for curves and shapes.
A wet location is named in the title on 221 listings, and that is the group to use outdoors or in a shower niche. Everything else is an interior part, and the IP rating is on the listing rather than implied by the family name.

This brand is the majority of several collections rather than one choice among many. All 872 tape listings appear in tape, rope and ribbon, and 1,194 products appear in the under-cabinet collection, which makes Diode LED roughly three quarters of everything filed there.

What to confirm before ordering a run
Low-voltage linear work is inspected like any other wiring, and in-wall and wet location use has its own rules. Lumera's installation and code disclaimer explains how that responsibility divides. The fields below change from part to part.
- Voltage. 12V or 24V DC, and they are not interchangeable with each other or with a 120V feed.
- Maximum run length. Published per tape product. Exceeding it dims the far end and voids the intended performance.
- Driver capacity. Total the wattage of the run, then leave headroom. A driver at its limit runs hot.
- Dimming protocol. Listings here name 0-10V and ELV control on different drivers. Match the control to the driver, not to the tape.
- IP rating. Interior tape and wet location tape are different products with different sealing and different accessories.
- Cut interval. Tape cuts only at marked points, so the interval decides whether a run finishes cleanly at a cabinet edge.
- Connector width. 8mm, 10mm and 12mm connectors are not cross-compatible with each other's tape.
- Channel and lens. The lens changes both diffusion and output, and covers are frequently a separate part number.
- Bundle versus accessory pack. Check the final segment of the part number before ordering any channel.

What is the difference between a Channel Bundle and an Accessory Pack?
The channel itself. A Channel Bundle includes the aluminum extrusion, usually 96 inches, along with a cover and the end caps and clips. An Accessory Pack includes only the end caps and clips with no extrusion. The part numbers differ solely in the final segment, so DI-CHB-S1CO-96AL and DI-CHB-S1CO-ACC are a bundle and an accessory set of the same profile. Should I use 12V or 24V tape?
Use 24V unless you have a specific reason not to. Twenty four volt tape carries further before voltage drop becomes visible at the end of the run, which is why it is the majority of this range. Twelve volt is reasonable for short cabinet runs where the driver sits close to the tape, and it is sometimes forced by an existing supply. Whichever you choose, the tape, the driver and the connectors all have to be the same voltage.
How do I size the driver?
Add the wattage of every foot of tape on the run, then choose a driver rated comfortably above that total rather than exactly at it. The wattage per foot is on the tape listing and it varies substantially between families and output levels. Also check the dimming protocol, because a driver listed for 0-10V control and one listed for ELV are different products and the control package has to match the driver.
Can I cut this tape to length?
Only at the marked cut points, which repeat at a fixed interval printed on the tape. Cutting anywhere else breaks the circuit for that segment. The interval matters more than people expect on a cabinet run, because it decides whether the tape finishes flush at the end of a shelf or leaves a dark gap. Check the cut interval on the listing before you commit to a channel length.
Do I need a channel, or can I stick the tape to the surface?
The tape has adhesive and will stick, but a channel does three things the adhesive does not. It sinks heat away from the LEDs, which is what determines whether the tape reaches its rated life. It holds a lens that diffuses the individual diodes into a line of light rather than a row of dots. And it protects the tape from being knocked or cleaned off. On any run a client will see, the channel is not optional.
Which connector fits my tape?
The one that matches the tape width in millimeters. Diode LED puts the width in the connector part number, so a DI-TB8 is for 8mm tape and a DI-TB12 is for 12mm, with a 10mm group as well. A connector for one width will not make reliable contact on another. Confirm the tape width on the spool listing first, then order connectors and extension cable to match.
